The Bercow Review on the needs of children with speech, language and communication needs - please let us have comments

Notice

Communications Forum AGM, 27 November 2007

Why we are here

It is estimated that there are 2.5 million people in the UK with a communication impairment. This site is designed to promote awareness and knowledge of communication impairment, and to be the UK's national information resource for people with communication impairment, their carers and service providers. The site includes:-
  • Details of organisations that can help adults and children who suffer from communication impairment.
  • Information about speech and language therapy for adults and children.
  • News and events of relevance to people with communication impairment, their carers and service providers.
  • Scope for individuals to contribute to a dictionary of speech and language terms in plain English. The dictionary is currently being drawn up, and you can now access the discussion on terminology via the members area. Please email us with any proposed additions or changes.
The Communications Forum is a registered charity set up in 1994 to bring together the organisations concerned with the needs of people with speech and language impairments.

At the 2006 Annual General Meeting the members of the Forum agreed the Development Plan put forward by the Trustees as the blueprint for the Forum's future development. You can download a copy of the plan (in pdf format) here.
