The activities and future of the Communications Forum are currently under urgent review by the Trustees.
It is estimated that there are 2.5 million people in the UK with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). This site is designed to promote awareness and knowledge of SLCN, and to be the UK's national information resource for people with SLCN, their carers and service providers. The site includes:-
- Details of organisations that can help adults and children who are affected by speech, language and communication needs.
- Information about speech and language therapy for adults and children.
- News and events of relevance to people with SLCN, their carers and service providers.
- Scope for individuals to contribute to a dictionary of speech and language terms in plain English. The dictionary is currently being drawn up - please email us with any proposed additions or changes.
The Communications Forum is a registered charity originally set up in 1994 to bring together the organisations concerned with the needs of people with speech, language and communication needs.
At the 2006 Annual General Meeting the members of the Forum agreed the Development Plan put forward by the Trustees as the blueprint for the Forum's future development. You can download a copy of the plan (in pdf format) here.
